Purpose

We believe that the study of the Bible should be a delight because through the Scriptures we come to know and see the person of Jesus Christ (Psalm 1:2; John 5:39). With that in mind, we strive to grow in our knowledge of God’s written word so that we may grow in our knowledge of Jesus and make Him known to others.

Titus 2

Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips, nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, that the Word of God may not be dishonored.  Titus 2:3-5

********

The women’s ministry at Edgewood Baptist  was birthed out of the desire and need for our women to develop intergenerational  relationships that offered encouragement, challenge, and growth. Through involvement in Sunday school classes, Bible studies, and numerous fellowship opportunities, we have seen women seeking to disciple and to be discipled through long-term relationships.  We feel the call to establish an ongoing small group ministry that is very purposeful in practicing the principles of  Titus 2:

¨ Titus 2 ministering is “spiritual mothering”. It is gender specific, life-on-life discipleship where women encourage and equip women to live for God’s glory as a woman.

¨ Each Titus 2 small group will have 6-8 members, including one or two trained leaders, sometimes referred to as spiritual mothers. Groups will meet monthly in the home of one of the leaders.

¨ Although all of the groups will be following the same curriculum, teaching will not be formal, but rather by lifestyle, example, and nurturing encouragement.

¨ Our leaders have committed themselves to this ministry for a minimum of 2 years. Participants will commit yearly, but need to realize that the curriculum and relationship building are cumulative.
